The LED Lights
LED lights or light emitting diodes are one of the advancements in lighting technology. Led lights are small electronic lights. They function with the help of a semi-conductor device called diode. The function of the diode is to direct current flows through it. They are extremely energy efficient and have a very long life compared to their incandescent counterparts. The size of a led light is as small as a pencil eraser. They do not have a fragile filament inside, so led lights last forever.
LED was first developed in 1960. But, they gained popularity only in recent years. They are widely used in traffic signals and electronic panels. Their operational expenses are much lower than incandescent lights. They use 80-90 percent less energy than the conventional incandescent lamps and last 5-10 years.
A variety of led light configurations are available for many types of lighting applications. The common led flashlights are made from a variety of inorganic semiconductor materials such as silicon and aluminum. White and blue led lights are most popular and commonly used. The most recently introduced colors are emerald green, pink and purple. They are very useful for disco parties, night clubs, bars, promotion, sports events and concerts.
In addition to led lights, led bulbs are also in the market. They are made of an organic compound that has the capability to emit light when the current is passed through it. They are used in a wide range of displays.
